BAWUMIA COMMISSIONS FICSOC; AIMED TO RAPIDLY DETECT AND RESPOND TO CYBER THREAT
Vice President Dr. Bawumia on Wednesday commissioned a world class state of the art Financial Industry Command Security Operations Centre (FICSOC) established and operated by the Bank of Ghana(BoG).
It is the first of its kind in Africa.
This centre is to prevent, rapidly detect, share information, and respond to cyber threats aimed at the financial industry and ultimately the entire country.
All banks are connected to FICSOC and receive real time security alerts, intelligence and network traffic analysis on cyber threats.
The Vice President congratulated the Bank of Ghana for setting the pace in Africa and charged financial industry players to take full advantage of the capabilities of the FICSOC, while continually strengthening in-house security operations.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia also urged the five countries involved in the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Highway Development Project to ramp up mobilisation of resources for the project to take-off.
He said the prompt execution of the 1,028-kilometre road project was critical for sustainable development in the sub-region as it would improve transportation and facilitate commercial activities, particularly in the wake of the implementation of the Africa Continent Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
