ASANTEHENE PRAISES MTN:AS THEY HANDOVER REFURBISHED PITCH TO ASANTE KOTOKO FC

 

 

The Asantehene , Otumfou Osei Tutu II who doubles as the Life patron of the Asante Kotoko Football club, has heaped praises to the leading telecommunication giant in Ghana, MTN for its unprecedented support to the Club and the development of Ashanti region.

The King however, encouraged MTN-Ghana Management not to relent in their efforts to partner the Club and the development of Asanteman.

His Royal Majesty, Otumfou Osei Tutu II made the commendation in a speech read on his behalf by Nana Opoku Agyemang, Ayeduasehene during the official handing over of Kumasi Asante Kotoko training pitch at Adako-Jachie .

MTN-Ghana invested thousands of Ghana cedis into the entire refurbishment of the pitch which includes; the rebranding of the venue, re-grassing of the pitch, fencing of the venue, provision of a seating area for the technical team and substitute players.

The Company had already contributed thousands of Ghana cedis towards the construction of changing rooms and offices for the technical staff of Asante Kotoko in 2011.

The Asantehene, again appealed to MTN to support the Club to complete the abandoned washroom project, construction of a mini dam, provision of lighting system among other facilities.

He entreated all stakeholders of the club, especially the past and present management team members, playing body and supporters to contribute their quota to enable them achieve their target.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Of Asante Kotoko FC, Mr.George Amoako in his acceptance speech also joined the Club owner, to thank MTN for their great support to the Club.”I therefore wish at this juncture to humbly do what Oliver Twist would have done by asking for more from Scancom Ghana Ltd(MTN) our main Sponsors, to continue to assist us with the infrastructure projects. I am not oblivious of the budgetary constraints on their social and other responsibilities but I believed in their capabilities as the biggest network in the country”.

The CEO of Kotoko FC however, assured MTN that on their part as the largest followers in the country, they shall continue to promote, patronize and enjoy MTN goods and services. He said they have never regretted their partnership with MTN and it’s their prayer that it grows bigger and better”, he added.

Mr. Noel Ganso, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN-Ghana who performed the official handing over of the refurbished pitch on behalf of the Company, said “we can all attest to the passion and euphoria attached to football and its ability to entertain and unite people.

The same has been the case with the Asante Kotoko football club and all lovers of football in Ghana especially the supporters of this great team.

Mr.Ganso said euphoria and football is not enough to keep club and players excited. It goes beyond that. There must be constant investment.

He observed that,the renovation of the pitch comes at an opportune time; a time when they look forward to the turnaround in the fortunes of the club for the best.

The Chief Marketing Officer of MTN-Ghana said, “we believe that the effective use and maintenance of this pitch will go a long way to enhance the fortunes of the club. It is indeed a privilege as very few clubs in Ghana have a training pitch and hope that Asante Kotoko Team will make this investment count”.

He said several investments made in the refurbishment of the pitch coupled with MTN’s sponsorship of the club shows how seriously they take their relationship with Asante Kotoko. Adding “Since we started this relationship we have always been there for you. The handing over of this pitch highlights MTN’s commitment to brighten the lives of Ghanaians at all touch points and I can confidently say that, today marks a significant milestone of our joint effort towards the development of football in Ghana”, he added.

Mr.Noel Ganso therefore urged the management team of Asante Kotoko to make the best out of this pitch. “We believe this will empower the technical team, motivate the players and mobilize the support of the fan base to enable the club grow from strength to strength. As you do this, we hope that Kotoko fans will capture the joy game brings and share it with their friends through the power of technology”.

Turning to MTN cherished customers, the Chief Marketing Officer pledged that MTN shall continue to excite them with cutting edge technological innovations. He however, congratulated Asante Kotoko for winning the Normalization Committee tournament by beating Karela FC in Kumasi thus making Kotoko qualify for the CAF Champions League.

Nana Osei Bosompem III, Chief of Adarko Jachie and the Ashanti regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) for National Sports Authority (NSA), Mrs. Patience S.A. Mensah on behalf of the Director-General, Prof. Peter Twumasi also commended MTN-Ghana good work done
