CEO at Nurses and Midwifery Council abusing Nurses funds – ASEPA

PRESS RELEASE

ASEPA TO PETITION SPECIAL PROSECUTOR OVER ROT AT NURSES AND MIDWIFERY COUNCIL- CEO ABUSING NURSES’ FUNDS

ASEPA has recieved several complains about the high level of corruption and abuse of office currently happening at the Nurses and Midwifery Council(NMC)

Some preliminary investigations conducted by ASEPA has revealed that the CEO of the Nurses and Midwifery Council (NMC) has thrown procurement procedures to the dogs and is violating the Public Procurement Act with impunity.

Apart from that the CEO, Mr.Felix K Nyante, and the Chief accountant have been involved in several counts of tax fraud by using a Company which is not registered at the GRA and has no VAT records for procurement activities within the NMC and falsifying VAT invoices and claiming same from the coffers of the NMC.

Apart from that our investigations also revealed that the CEO in order to cover up his corrupt deeds has in a Memo stopped all internal audit activities of the internal audit unit of the NMC contrary to the provisions of Public Financial Management Act.

Several evidence gathered indicate that reports of these financial malfeasances have been made to the board of the NMC but no proper investigations have been carried out and the CEO is still at post and is still withdrawing monies from the NMC accounts indiscriminately without any due processes.

We believe the conduct of the CEO of the NMC, could collectively affect the administration and certication of Health care professionals in Ghana and this could also potentially take away a lot of confidence from our healthcare delivery System.
