This development is one of the most satiric and comic venture ever taken by successive government’s in the history of multiparty governance in the country, and also under the 4th republic.
Though I decided to ignore commenting on this scandalous act due to the fact that I held the view that, my MPs in parliament will deliver justice by not given credence and legal backing to this shoddy deal by way of its passage for the procurement of these drones which the government has described as a mechanism to facilitate the delivery of medical accoutrements and blood pints to especially rural Ghana, and for cross country purposes. My dismay comes on the back that the whole intent and priority is an exercise in futility, and ought to be treated with the contempt it deserved.
These are my honest observations and argument observations to prove my opinions on this very particular subject ;
1.If the Akufo Addo government had continued the “Onuador” medical van system which the else while Mahama administration procured and stocked with standardized medical devices and machinery for our rural folks which in effect brought paramedics to the doorsteps of ordinary Ghanaian. We would not be where we are today, where we are spending a chunk of manhours debating “drones conveying blood saga” and bringing virtually the institution of Parliament into a standstill.
- The argument espoused by surrogates of this government to the effect that the vans had broken down before they came into power, had also fallen flat ; In the scope governance you inherit liabilities and fortunes at the same time, so why didn’t the present administration make room for these vans to be fixed, and use it for the purpose for which it was earmarked for?
Records from both the ministry and the Ghana health services has it that, the country is in a deficit of quality medical personnel’s to deliver healthcare services and I believe an amount of 12 million dollars is enough to augment such development.
The issue of chips compound is another major concern that needs serious and urgent attention to address- In fact, I have travelled far and near the countryside, and the level of neglect of thousands of chips compounds by this current government is simply barbaric and a waste of the country’s scanty resources. And I suggest that said amount which has been a peg for the purchases of these unwanted drones should have been channelled to refurbished these dilapidated chips compounds for the betterment of all, especially the villages and peri-urban hinterlands of the country.
Quality human resources is the panacea for sound economic takeover, and the backbone for the country’s GDP – it is saddened therefore to see that after some 21 months in office, the government continues to pay lip services in building of the country’s prime human capacity in the health sector for the wellbeing of economic progress respectively. Until date, the president and his assigns are days dreaming by impugning that, once they have reintroduced their so-called Nursing trainees allowances all associate problems in the sector has been taken care of.
What a joke!
Dear readers, these and many thought-provoking observations catch my attention for this brief write up about the raging controversy…
But on the contrary, I think the Parliament of Ghana has also worsened the debate through the passage of the deal on Tuesday. But happily, I dove my heart to the minority caucus of the House, who stage a walkout from the chambers to register their displeasure about the wh
3.ole pact.
The expression by the Ministry of Health as well as the Ghana health service on this matter looks too ambitious and ambiguous, to say the least.
After all, the Zipline company who are behind the deal, and its auxiliaries, have not told the good people of Ghana who the real faces of the deal are left alone, the quality assurance and the value for money concern which has become a worry to many who aver to scrutinize the deal on a daily basis.
The embellishment of this deal is synonymous to previous frivolous ones which have gone done the drain and unaccounted for, ever since the Bawumia -Akufo Addo or Akufo Addo Bawumia took office as President and Veep from January 7, 2017.
Ghana is indeed bleeding, and suffocating under this incompetent and flat-footed government which you and I have unleashed unto ourselves.
The dynamics of the drones and how we are being told by their team of expert and how it works ;
The government until recently has begun the training of some NabCo graduands to take up the responsibility of manning and operating this drones. Similarly answers by government communicators on this too, smacks of lack of basic understanding into the concept of how the system and processes functions.
For the avoidance of doubts these are the fundamental questions which need answers ;
- Can a drone travel from say Bia east to west only to deliver blood pints and return? And Through what medium?
Have the technocrats taken into account the dangers these drones can pose to both human and non-living thing?
Are they going to rezone and map the entire district’s capital where these drones will be operating such it could be monitored well without any hustle?
4.Meanwhile, what about after sales services? Will they fix here in Ghana, in the event that these drones breakdown or it will be sent abroad to result in another cost to the nation?
- What of if the drones go and never come back? After all its a machine and even aeroplanes of good standings sometime go and never revert. I believe this is salient?
From the above observations and pointers raised therefore, I can confidently conclude without any ambiguity that the nation’s meagre resources has yet received another shocker through the wanton and needless of procurement of the so-called drones by the incompetent and lazy government of President Akufo Addo, and his vice Dr Bawumia who singlehanded find a sole source for this venture.
For me am left with no choice than to state that another mass profiteering and unnecessary inflated and bloated figures of contract sums are in the offing, for the selfish and corrupt beneficiaries in government.
Africa is not Europe, and so the earlier they shun this empty justification, the better for all of us; enough of the intellectual dishonesty, and administrative lies!
