Akufo-Addo will be president even if he’s in wheelchair – Titus-Glover

Member of Parliament for Tema East, Daniel Titus-Glover, says Ghanaians will vote Nana Akufo-Addo as president of Ghana even if he is confined in a wheelchair because his brain will still be active.

He said claims of ill health of the Nana Akufo-Addo which the National Democratic Congress has made its campaign message will not work, adding ” Even if Akufo-Addo is in a wheelchair we will push him to government” The Africa Watch Magazine quoting a supposed medical records of Nana Akufo-Addo from a UK hospital, claimed in its latest publication on Monday that the New Patriotic Party presidential candidate has developed an acute cancer; something the party has since rebutted.

Commenting on the allegation Tuesday on TV3’s morning magazine show, New Day, Mr Titus-Glover said considering the prevailing hardship in the country occasioned by the John Mahama-led government, the people of Ghana will vote Akufo-Addo into office even if he is in a wheel chair.

“It is the mind that matters,” he argued, noting that if the NDC will use the supposed ill health of Nana Akufo-Addo as their campaign message, they should go ahead but said it will not fly, saying “If you use Nana Akufo-Addo’s health you’ve lost”. “The cost of doing business is what is killing the people. The youth are crying,” he said.

Mr Titus-Glover did not understand why trained nurses who are qualified and certified will be asked by the government to apply for jobs through the Youth Enterprise Support.

Akufo-Addo is a dictator
Responding to President Mahama’s claim that Akufo-Addo is a dictator, Mr Titus-Glover said the President might have forgotten the foundation of the party he is leading today which had its root from dictatorship.

He wondered why President Mahama would claim the NPP is intolerant when in the NDC has hound several of its members out of the party as well as suspended members who criticised the party or some of its members. Mr Titus-Glover mentioned former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and Dr Josiah Aryeh among others as some of those who have been chased out of the NDC.

“Who is so impatient than the President. You hound Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings out of your party. Josiah Aryeh, you didn’t even give him the chance to defend himself. Where was the president?” he asked. “When we’re talking about dictators, he’s forgotten where his party come from. He should go back and check his party records,” he added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Communication Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has denied claims that the NDC is behind the publication of the supposed Akufo-Addo’s ill health. He advised the NPP to investigate the circumstance that led to the release of such a sensitive medical records of an African leader by the hospital rather than to accuse the NDC which he said is focused on its campaign.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu said never in the history of intra party democracy has there been so many violence than in the NPP in recent times.
