According to GhanaWeb, Abronye revealed in an interview that the threats are thought to be related to his vocal position on politically delicate matters. He claims that the situation has gotten so bad that he feels obliged to ask the President, who also serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghanaian Armed Forces, to directly intervene.

Abronye declared, “This is not a political move.” It concerns both individual safety and national security. I have always been outspoken, but this time I am afraid for my life and am taking precautions to keep myself safe.

He disclosed that the police have been formally notified of the threats and conveyed hope that the relevant authorities will carry out a comprehensive investigation into the situation. In order to prevent any possible harm, Abronye also urged law enforcement to take prompt, decisive action.

He urged peace and civility in national discourse, emphasising that political disagreements should never result in threats or acts of violence.

Known for his frank and frequently contentious political commentary, Abronye DC has often been at the centre of public controversy. Social media platforms have seen a range of responses to his decision to ask the President for protection. Some Ghanaians have applauded his bravery in taking preventative action, but others have questioned the reasoning behind his appeal, speculating that it might have political implications undertones.

However, the circumstance highlights persistent worries about personal safety and political tolerance in Ghana’s escalating political climate.
