A heavy windstorm has caused the collapse of erected canopies and obstructed proceedings injuring one person at an ongoing state burial ceremony being held for C.K. Tedam in Paga in the Kasena Nankana West District of the Upper East region.
The wind storm that swept over the township at a time a requiem mass service was ongoing, collapsed the metallic sheltered canopies causing pandemonium and forced a halt of the service for close to thirty minutes.
MyNewsGh.com that is covering the event, spotted a woman believed to be in her late 60’s who was being rushed to an ambulance on a standby after she was reportedly hit by one of the metal poles supporting the canopies.
Military personnel at the grounds quickly restored calm by reorganizing and reassembling some of the collapsed canopies while some held in strength the stands that held the shelter for the President and his entourage.
At the time of filing this report, the main celebrant and President of the Catholic Bishops Conference Most Rev. Philip Naameh, Archbishop was presenting the Homily ahead of the interment of the mortal remains.
