“We’ve Not Petition To Prez Akufo Addo to Investigate Lands and Natural Resources Minister” – Secretary Butchers Association Sunyani

Immediate Release!!!

16th March 2019.

RE: Slaughter House Land;Investigate Lands and Natural Resources Minister

It has come to the attention of the
Cooperative Butchers Association, the operators of the Sunyani abattoir, about news going round in the media that the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh has allegedly purchased a land which Sunyani Slaughter House is situated on for his private business.

We wish to state categorically that we have not petitioned the President or anybody for that matter and this allegation is not only frivolous, mischievous and misleading but also treachery perpetrated by a consummate faceless liar. Again the abbattoir has been relocated to a better place and there is NO controvesy about that.

We also wish to place on record that, we the Cooperative Butchers Association have not issued such statement and we classify this as an act to tarnish the image of the Association, the Hon Minister, Kwaku Asomah Cheremeh and the New Patriotic Party’s Government.

The facts as postulated by these faceless writer is not correct, It must be known to the General Public that, the Cooperative Butchers Association does not know anyone by name Alhaji Seidu Mohammed a.k.a (Alhaji Zongo) who is claiming to be the Chief Butcher of the Butchers Association in Sunyani. Our checks revealed that this individual is also faceless and can’t be traced, however the current chief butcher is by name Alhaji Gausu Abdulai and the secretary is Salia Moro.

It is a fact that most members of the Cooperative Butchers Association know Hon Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh who resides at Zongo Extension or Gozokrom and he has been our friend for over 46 years whom we sometimes run to in times of need. We therefore know all his family members and we want to put on record that, Hon Asomah-Cheremeh has no 17 year old boy by name Nana Adu Adjei who is a student of Achimota Senior High School. He has three children (boys).

  1. The Sunyani Municipal Assembly did not conspire with Hon Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh to evict us so that he can own that piece of land. Rather, the Municipal Assembly during the erstwhile administration started the construction of a new and modern abattoir and this current government upon assumption of office completed the project and handed it over to us (ASSOCIATION ). We willingly moved to the facility at Asuakwaa in Sunyani after a successful dialogue between the Municipal Assembly, Nananom and our Association.

  2. The relocation of the abattoir has not rendered over 200 Zongo youth jobless and denying them of their daily bread. Our new edifice has a serene and conducive atmosphere that befits a modern abattoir which is improving the living standard of our over 500 members.

3 This faceless individual also claimed that Hon Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh is behind the construction of a petrol station on the said piece of land. However, the checks done by the Association indicates that, the allegation is palpable lie. The said piece of land was revised to its original owners (Nananom), since the land is no longer serving its original purpose and the Association has been allocated one third of that land which we are most grateful to them.

  1. We are therefore appealing to the N.P.P government and the general public to disregard such malicious publications and a calculated attempt by evil minded individuals who are eager to dent the image of the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and the Cooperative Butchers Association.

We are by this statement issuing a strong warning to that faceless individual(s) to refrain from spreading falsehood about the Association and government officials else we will be forced to do the unthinkable.

……Signed……..
Salia Moro (0507793717)
Secretary, Cooperative Butchers Association
