The Cassiel Ato Forson-led caucus had occasion to sing protest songs at various points, in addition to the customary heckling that involved vehemently criticizing some of the statements the president made on the House floor.

The most notable incident involved a song that started after the president recognized former president John Dramani Mahama among the dignitaries in parliament.

In a song, The Minority declared that Mahama would win the 2024 presidential election and become Ghana’s next president, come hell or high water.

“JM bɛba, Wo yɛ yɛ aa, yeeeee, yeeee, “JM bɛba, wo yɛ yɛ aa,” they exclaimed.

Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer who would succeed Akufo-Addo, is the primary opponent of Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

TV3 released a video of Mahama and other guests grinning while the House waited for the backbenchers’ voices to fade so the president could continue with his speech.
