[VIDEO]: Subin NPP boils as delegates declare “opposition in 2020” if MP is not changed

Eugene Boakye Antwi (Subin MP)

Women delegates of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Subin Constituency have declared that the party would lose power in the upcoming elections in 2020 if Eugene Boakye Antwi remains on the ballot paper as its candidate for the Member of Parliament (MP) position.

In a video sighted by MyNewsGh.com, the aggrieved women are seen saying the MP for Subin and Deputy Minister for Works and Housing has a despicable arrogance, for which reason he must be changed.

They accused the MP of conniving with the Ashanti Regional Treasurer of the NPP and Regional Manager of the Micro and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Hajia Zeinab Sallow to deny them of accessing funds from the centre.

“We deserve to access MASLOC loans because we worked tirelessly to bring the NPP to power but Eugene has told Hajia Zeinab not to approve it for us because he says we will not vote for him in the upcoming primaries and that he has suspended us from the party”, one of them said.

“He once called us animals”, another said, explaining how arrogant the MP is and called on the President, Nana Akufo Addo to call the MP and the MASLOC boss to order if the NPP still wishes to retain the Subin seat in 2020.

Members of Parliament in the Ashanti region have in recent times become subjects of bad blood amongst their constituents and party functionaries for issues including neglect of duty and sheer arrogance.

It has become commonplace that in the Ashanti region, once a candidate wins the primaries on the ticket of the NPP, they automatically wins the MP position, a ritual observers say the legislators have taken it for granted.

The Subin Constituency remains one of the strategic seats that the NPP would dread losing, but our checks on the grounds points to the fact that the MP, Eugene Boakye Antwi is increasingly becoming unpopular and if the threat by the delegates is taken for granted, the seat may be lost for the first time.

When Kumasi-based Nhyira FM contacted the MP, he said the women have been suspended by the party because they are “insolent”.
