‘They think we’re fools’ – Kwaku Boahen condemns NPP’s ‘useless’ waakye and sobolo agenda

A Deputy Communications Director of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kwaku Boahen says the NPP led government is taking Ghanaians for granted.

According to him, government’s decision to support Zongo women who are into ‘waakye’ and ‘sobolo’ making is a ‘useless’ initiative which must be condemned.

“NPP sometimes think that Ghanaians don’t have sense, they think we are fools. What support again does Zongo women need to prepare waakye and sobolo?” he questioned.

Government has said it will support Zongo women who are into ‘waakye’ and ‘sobolo’ making, as part of moves to empower them to be economically productive.

Responding to the issue on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Kwaku Boahen who appears to oppose strongly government’s decision to support Zongo women in ‘waakye’ and ‘sobolo’ making said the women have the experience already so they don’t need it now.

“With their experience [Zongo women], they can even export waakye, koko and sobolo to abroad. Government should rather support them export waakye, koko and sobolo to abroad. They already know how to make them,” he told host Mac-Jerry Osei Agyeman.

“The NPP is not fulfilling its promises to the Zongo communities. They have lied to them and they will pay for that in 2020,” he added.
