The New Patriotic Party (NPP) to lose Sissala East seat next year if………

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will likely lose the Sissala East seat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if Ridwan Dauda Abass (MP) wins the upcoming Primaries slated for late this year;some bigwigs in the constituency suggest. In what appeared a united front for the NPP in 2016 and subsequently resulted in winning the Sissala East seat for the first time since the inception of the forth republic has now turned resentful.

The Sissala district until its partitioning in to East and West was always won by either the NDC or People National Convention (PNC). In 2016 under the leadership of Chairman Alhaji Abubakri Short, all factions in the constituency were closed and the rank and file that lived outside the constituency returned home to ensure for the first time,NPP ceased the seat. This consolidated efforts by the big shots also resulted in victory for the Sissala West.

The grounds seem to have shifted and a big danger looms as the same bigwigs have complained bitterly about the obscene posture of the sitting Member of Parliament (MP). While others have described him as non performing and shallow, many have said he has not made any meaningful contribution in the lives of his constituents. Others have also said he womanizes with the little monies he had accrued from his sitting in parliament. While he enjoy himself in a powerful V8 and women always sitting in front the car, the constituency is bedeviled with worst dangerous roads in the constituency. Armed robbery is on the rise and citizens can not operate freely about their daily activities.

Mr Ridwan who has been described as a foreigner and not recognized in the NPP party until 2015 is said to be toiling with the fortunes of the party in Sissala East and this is likely to affect the party including the President come next year if he is retained during the primaries. Mr Ridwan in his attempts to sell himself recently on GTV morning show failed to live up to expectation by his excited followers in the constituency. Described as hardened and cerebral stalwart in the constituency,Mr Ishmael P. Dimah took the MP to cleaners on his facebook page and described his fluffy appearance on GTV as “bereft, hollow and waste of time.” . He added that the constituency needed a better representation in Ghana’s parliament.

The upcoming primaries will see Mr Amidu Issahaku Chinnia (Deputy Regional Minister), Mr Nasiru Kanton (Ghana Gas), Mr Duane Amin (ENI Ghana), Mr Ridwan Abass and Mr Ishmael P. Dimah ( GHS) battle it out in the upcoming primaries in the constituency. Many have predicted Mr Amidu Chinnia to have an upper hand over others because the current executives are said to be aligned to him. It is assumed that any of the other contestants will give the constituency a better representation anywhere than Mr Ridwan who is a stranger in the party.

Next year will see rigorous competition between the NPP, NDC and PNC as the NDC also stands to present a doctor in economics who doubled as a teaching assistant abroad before coming to contest. The PNC on the other hand is presenting a lawyer and philanthropist and Sissala East will be a battle field come next year…..
