According to Brigadier General Eric Aggrey-Quarshie, the Director General of Public Affairs for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), there is widespread praise for their recent operation in Ashaiman among Ghanaians.
He claimed that despite some people’s public protests against the brutality of the operation, they have received a ton of praise for it.
Speaking at the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) of Ghana’s Annual General Meeting and National Public Relations and Communication Summit, which was held at Kwahu-Nkwatia in the Eastern Region with the theme “Staying Credible Through Rough Patches,” Brigadier General Aggrey-Quarshie said the soldiers took the actions they did because Ashaiman has become known for being a haven for criminals.
Notwithstanding the tremendous public outrage following their operation, he said that the military had received praise behind the scenes for its efforts.
“I’m not defending or justifying our actions, but you have no idea how many calls I and the institution have received from people thanking us for what we did in Ashaiman.
