A full-blown bust-up in the Subin Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) cannot be far away. There will be chaos and blood on the walls for sure.

Member of Parliament for the Subin Constituency and Deputy Minister of Works and Housing, Eugene Boakye Antwi, on Friday, threw caution and decorum to the wind when he unilaterally prevented some party delegates from accessing a MASLOC facility.

According to reports, the party had asked female delegates engaged in petty trading to pay a processing fee of GHc20 to access a loan of GHc1,000 to support their businesses under the prevailing harsh economic conditions.

Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) is a microfinance apex body responsible for implementing the Government of Ghana’s microfinance programs targeted at reducing poverty.

Checks by Asempanews.com revealed that after all necessary formalities had been completed, payment was due on Friday, but the MP is reported to have stormed the Adum office of MASLOC with his cohorts to disrupt the rather smooth process.

Asempanews.com can authoritatively report that Mr Boakye Antwi impressed upon the constituency executives, most of whom are his yes-men, to omit the names of those he perceived would vote against him in the impending primaries from the list of beneficiaries.

And not even the intervention of MASLOC officials would convince the enraged legislator to soften his stance on the over 60 affected female delegates, who were utterly shocked and dismayed by the MP’s actions, our source disclosed.

”Hon. Boakye Antwi says he has suspended us as party members, so we have no right to access the loan. He alienated and used unprintable words on us in the full glare of the public. And that made me questioned whether this is the party I worked so hard to win political power,” one of the affected delegates, who pleaded for strict anonymity said in an interview with Asempanews.com.

Quizzed on the reasons the MP outlined for their suspension, she added, ”The MP and party executives said nothing substantial to us. In fact, very frivolous reasons have been given regarding our so-called suspension and that’s very laughable”.

Another affected delegate is of the firm opinion that Mr Boakye Antwi and his partners in crime with the big bucks are panicking that their hold on power is slipping and they are going for broke.

She insists the bizarre and outrageous behaviour of Mr Boakye Antwi at the MASLOC office was an example of how he has stopped caring about those who elected him into office.

”If Eugene is allowed to stay on as our MP after the elections, we’ll probably be heading for doom because he has proven to be morally inept and professionally incompetent, God help us!,” the delegate stressed.

However, sources in the upper echelons of the party in Ashanti Region revealed that Mr Boakye Antwi has constantly victimized and suspended at least 200 delegates, who are not in favour of his leadership style.

There are those in the party who maintain it is about time the party elected a more sober and knowledgeable person to represent the constituency in the national assembly.
