The Volta River Authority (VRA) has taken significant exception to claims made by Dr. Elikplim Kwabla Apetorgbor, the Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Power Generators, Ghana (IPGG), that the energy supply to the Ghana market is being impacted by the VRA’s export operations.
The VRA characterized Dr. Kwabla Apetorgbor’s assertions as false and deceptive in a strongly worded statement.
The Volta River Authority (VRA) has been alerted to a publication in the electronic media that purports to demonstrate that the excessive export of power to neighboring countries is the reason the VRA is not fulfilling its commitment to supply power to the Ghanaian market.
The VRA said in a statement that “this assertion, which is attributed to Independent Power Generators Ghana, is not only erroneous but misleading.”
The VRA went on to say that the Electricity Market Oversight Panel (EMOP), not the VRA, is in charge of monitoring its operations in Ghana.
