Okyenhene appointed Odauhene Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiahwe as chairman of Tourism and Culture for Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council
The Chief of Akyem Etwereso in the Akyemansa District of the Eastern Region, Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiahwe, has been appointed as the Chairman for Tourism and Culture Board for the Abuakwa Traditional Area.
The Odauhene was appointed by Okyehene, His Royal Majesty, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin.
Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiahwe’s mandate as the Chairman for tourism and culture board is to see to it that all the tourist attraction centers will be well developed to generate income for the Traditional Area.
The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area has a rich blend of dramatic landscape, historic relics and traditional cultures.
Five traditional divisions makes up the traditional area and have magnificent renewable natural resources including forest reserves, waterfalls, rivers, caves and a rich diversity of wildlife and sanctuaries that could be developed further into a tourism destination site for the benefit of the area in particular and the nation as a whole.
In addition the area has a unique cultural heritage with the chieftaincy institutions remaining as the center piece.
The annual festivals of the chiefs and people of the Abuakwa Traditional Area especially the Odwira festival is celebrated annually by the people and it attracts a considerable number of people including foreign tourists to the area.
