The family verified that Odo Broni lived with the highlife legend for over fifteen (15) years and was by his side until his death in a statement released by their solicitors, Baba Jamal & Associates.

According to the statement, the couple was blessed with six (6) children, and the Fosu Royal Family fully recognises her marriage to the late musician.

According to what our client tells us, Priscilla Ofori (also known as Odo Broni) was married to the late Daddy Lumba and was by his side through thick and thin. They were blessed with six (6) children and lived together for more than fifteen (15) years until his last day.

Akosua Serwah Fosuh, a German woman who has claimed to be the musician’s legal wife, also had responses from the family’s solicitors. The family claims that approximately fifteen (15) years ago, Akosua Serwah abandoned Daddy Lumba while he was ill, forfeiting her marital rights.

According to the statement, Daddy Lumba refuted a number of accusations made by Akosua Serwah in a letter she sent to the late musician in February 2018 announcing her intention to start divorce proceedings. According to the statement, his legal team at the time encouraged her to go ahead because the musician had already moved on with his life.

The Fosu family also mentioned that Akosua Serwah had formally dissolved her marriage by giving the late musician’s family traditional drinks. This is a cultural practice that, according to Akan custom, marks the dissolution of a marriage once it has been approved by the husband’s family.

The attorneys also emphasised that, according to tradition, the family alone has all rights regarding the deceased musician’s burial and funeral plans. The statement explained:

Your client has no right to dictate how the Fosu Royal family bury their deceased because the deceased’s body and funeral arrangements belong to the family.

Regarding Daddy Lumba’s estate, the attorneys stated that all of his properties are a part of it and that the family, his kids, and their moms will manage it jointly to guarantee equitable distribution. They also revealed that the legal team has private directives from the deceased musician that specify how he wanted his burial, funeral, and property division to be conducted.

In order to guarantee a quiet and respectable funeral for one of Ghana’s most renowned music icons, the statement called for cooperation from all parties and family members associated with the late musician.
