FROM: NUGS PUBLIC RELATIONS UNIT*?

? DATE OF RELEASE: Wednesday,19th December, 2018

? SUBJECT: NUGS VISITS NATIONAL YOUTH AUTHORITY (NYA)

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) as part of our commitment towards youth development in the country on Tuesday, 18th December, 2018 , paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority, Mr. Emmanuel Asigri. The visit was to create a viable network between the union and the authority.

The CEO in his address made NUGS aware of the contributions successive NUGS administrations have made towards the development of youth across the nation and also to the agency. NUGS had a representative on the NYA board until recently revoked due to the reformation of the ACT governing the authority. He updated us on the progress the authority has made in the NYA Volunteer camp and the Online digitize marketing.

The authority according to the CEO has by far trained over 3000 youths in the area of online digitized marketing and ready to continue with the second phase of the project which may cover more than the initial number.

The NUGS President, H.E Richmond Asare Tinkaro in his address to the CEO, Mr. Emmanuel Asigri and his two deputies ,Mr. Bright Acheampong and Mr. Richard E. Obeng present at the meeting , expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the authority for accepting to meet the union. The union applauded the authority for their tremendous progress towards youth development in the country and expressed our unflinching support to the course of their activities as youth, students and student leaders. H.E. Richmond Asare Tinkaro also advocated for the need for the National Youth Authority to work at taking the youth out of the streets in the country since a single youth on the street is a threat to the future of this country.

H.E Tinkaro again spoke on the need for the Youth Authority to partner with the National Union of Ghana Students to embark on massive volunteering activities which he believed will inculcate the spirit of patriotism and nationalism among the youth.
