The Member of Parliament for Assin Central and prospective presidential candidate, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, has conceded his loss in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary.
He urged party members to put their disputes from the primaries behind them and work together to win the general elections in 2024. He expressed his view that the elections were handled honestly and transparently.
“I think the party has been fair and transparent,” stated Agyapong. I have only ever preached about just one item. My grassroots has spoken in this fair election, and I sincerely accept the outcome.

Following a hotly contested primary, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was declared the NPP’s chosen presidential candidate for the general elections of 2024. Kennedy Agyapong obtained 71,996 votes, or 37.41% of the total, while Dr. Bawumia received 118,210 votes, or 61.47% of the total. Francis Addai-Nimoh garnered 731 votes, or 0.41% of the total, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto received 1,459 votes, placing him in third place.
