Ghana’s vice-president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has assured that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, led by president Akufo-Addo, will deliver on its promise to build five new stadiums
Five regions – Brong Ahafo, Eastern, Volta, Upper East and Upper West regions – are all currently without national stadiums, making it difficult to encourage sporting activities in these areas.

The NPP, then in opposition, campaigned massively on a will to make sure the aforementioned regions get their own national stadiums, if they vote the party into power.
And with the party subsequently going on to win the 2016 polls, the vice-president insists they will deliver on the said promise.
Addressing patrons and dignitaries after partaking in a health-walk to commemorate Ghana’s 60th anniversary, Dr. Bawumia reiterated that the Akufo-Addo-led government wants to “make sports a very key tool in our social and economic development.”
He added: “We [the NPP government] are going to make sure that we have the facilities for sports development.
“There are five regions in this country that do not have sports stadia and Nana Akufo-Addo has made the pledge that ‘Insha Allah’ by the end of his four years, all regions in this country will have a sports stadium.”
