NPP deputy women's organizer resigns to campaign for NDC

With barely 80 days to the general elections, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) suffers yet another blow as a deputy women’s organizer for the party’s Abuakwa North constituency, Patience Koranteng, resigned her post to join the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Patience Koranteng’s resignation follows that the constituency treasurer, Akosua Sarpomaa. News reports show that Patience is currently campaigning for the NDC parliamentary candidate, Ambassador Victor Smith.
The reason(s) behind Patient’s resignation remain unknown but suspicions are that the opposition party could be faced with power struggles within their camp at the Abuakwa North constituency.
Also, some party constituency executives are said to be opposing the candidature of the current member of parliament (MP) Gifty Twum Ampofo, hence the recent spate of resignations.
Should this trend continue, the opposition NPP may likely lose their grip of the Abuakwa North constituency ahead of the parliamentary elections. Meanwhile, officials of the NPP are yet to issue a statement on the development.
