NDC Chairman dares Mahama

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has dared former President John Mahama to released names of executives who squandered monies meant for campaign in the 2016 general elections.

According to Bismarck Tawiah Boateng, the exposé by the former President will expose the party executives who pocketed campaign cash which led to their gargantuan defeat.

His comment is in reaction to claims that former President Mahama will soon drop the names of members of the NDC’s Functional Executive Committee whom he gave money for campaign activities but ended up in individual pockets.

Pro-NDC newspaper, Daily Post reported Mr. Mahama has been compelled to tow this line of action after several reports that some members of the FEC have gone round telling people he failed to resource the party; hence the party’s defeat at the polls.

The newspaper said its own enquiries and investigations have revealed that some senior members of the FEC constantly came for various sums of monies from the President for campaign activities which he gave them without let or hindrance.

While receiving funds from President Mahama, they also took delivery of hundreds of thousands of T-Shirts from his wife, Mrs. Lordina Mahama. The T-shirts and other party paraphernalia were her personal contribution to the campaign effort.
But Mr. Tawiah Boateng on Accra-based Oman FM Friday said he is innocent of every charge being levelled against him.

He noted that most of the monies and resources for the campaign were channelled directly to parliamentary candidates and some voluntary groups in the region which launched agenda 50 percent votes.

“I will be glad if the former President mention names of those he gave money for the campaign so that everyone knows the people who squandered it” he stated.

The NDC Eastern regional chairman said he is saddened by the lies being bandied around when in fact which printed over 1000 T-shirts for the NDC in the round-up to the 2016 general elections.

Mr. Tawiah Boateng said he is ever ready for an investigation about how campaign funds were utilised in the region.
