N/R: Market women robbed at gun point, three fulani headsmen arrested

The Northern regional police command has arrested three Fulani herdsmen for allegedly robbing some market women, and other road users on the Wiae-Nanjero in the Kpandai district.

“A distress call received by the Kpandai police from Hon. Thomas Nkpetri, Assemblyman for Wiae area indicated that some mask men were robbing some market women and other road users on the Wiae – Nanjero road at gun point. A team of policemen were quickly dispatched to the scene on to assist the victims. On police arrival the suspected robbers had fled the scene after their operation”. The Northern regional public relations officer of the police, Dsp Mohammed Ussif Tanko told NorthernWebGh.com.

According to him investigations at the scene revealed that three out of five persons suspected to be Fulani headsmen were holding rifles, whilst the other two were also wielding machetes.

He said the headsmen believed to be robbers on that faithful day took advantage of the area deplorable road, and bad network and further robbed the market women and other road users of various sums of money including mobile phones.

Dsp Ussif Tanko said police undercover investigations led to the immediate arrest of the three suspects namely Sumaila Bella aged 30yrs, lmoro Aliu aged 19yrs and lddirus lddi aged 20yrs.

“Suspect Sumaila was seen at the scene hours before the incident. He was therefore arrested in the early hours of yesterday 13/03/19. Suspect Imoro was also arrested same time on suspicion. Suspect Iddirus was arrested later in the day at Kumidi when he attempted to board a tricycle to Salaga. A search on him revealed two BB cartridges. During an identification parade, victims identified suspects and added the roles both of them played before and during the incident”.

“Suspects who are all of Fulani descent were identified by almost all the victims in an Identification parade held on the day of incident”. He added.
