Mahama is NDC’s best bet for 2020 but needs no MPs endorsement – Aspiring Youth Organiser

Aspiring National Youth Organizer of the NDC, George Opare Addo has said former President John Dramani Mahama is the best candidate to lead the opposition party into the 2020 elections.

The former Municipal Chief Executive of Akuapem North was speaking on UTV Friday.

According to him, the former President is the best person capable of leading the party back to power in 2020.

“To be very honest with you, I have toured the entire country twice since our defeat in 2016 and I can confidently say John Mahama has the grounds and will certainly get the mandate of the party’s delegates,” he said.

He was however quick to add that, he disagrees with the endorsement of the 94 MPs who have declared support for the former president.

He said, “I don’t think their endorsement was necessary. President John Mahama will win hands down so there is no need for the MPs to declare their support for him. Their action was needless considering they cannot make decisions for the delegates of our party.”

Speaking on his bid to become the next National Youth Organizer, Mr Opare Addo popularly known as “Pablo” said he was poised for the job and is very confident about his chances.

“I have gone round the nation and met party supporters who are eager to help the party capture power again. It’s a vision I personally share and will work towards achieving. To make this dream a possibility, we will need to build the capacities of the Youth in the NDC and the nation at large,” he declared.

The aspiring Youth Organizer has served twice as MCE, first under Prof John Evans Attah Mills and President John Mahama. He is also a two time parliamentary candidate for Okere Constituency, in 2008 and 2012.

He holds a degree in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Ghana and an Executive Masters in Governance & Leadership from GIMPA as well as an LLB from the same institution. He is currently a Bachelor of Law candidate at the Ghana School of Law.

The regional and national executive elections of opposition National Democratic Congress will come off in September this year followed by a National Congress to elect the party’s flagbearer for the 2020 general elections.
