Lumba’s sister said, “I am not ready for my brother’s burial on December 6.”

The late highlife icon Daddy Lumba’s elder sister, Madam Ernestina Fosu, has stated that she is ill-prepared for the funeral, which is set for December 6, 2025.

Her remarks come after the Kumasi High Court rejected an application for an injunction to stop the event.

Ernestina Fosu, a known supporter of Madam Akosua Serwaa, Daddy Lumba’s first wife, expressed her displeasure with the court’s ruling to invalidate the injunction.

After the decision, Madam Fosu told reporters outside the Kumasi High Court on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, that while the court has given the go-ahead for the funeral to take place, she herself is not emotionally or psychologically ready for the date.

She gave a firm response when asked if she was prepared for her brother’s last funeral rites:

“I am not prepared. I am not prepared for my brother’s funeral on December 6th.

She also said that all she and others want is peace and nothing else.

Her comments came soon after Madam Akosua Serwaa’s request for an interlocutory injunction was turned down by Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur of the Kumasi High Court.

The court said that according to Ghanaian customary law, the family, not any one person, including a surviving spouse, has the right to make decisions about the remains and funeral of a deceased person.

Judge Smith Arthur also said that stopping the family’s plans would not be good for justice, the family, or the public.

Justice Smith Arthur further noted that halting the family’s preparations would not serve the interests of justice, the family or the general public.
