Life of Vybrant Faya, hit songs by him

Emmanuel Kojo Quayeson, better known by his stage name as Vybrant Faya is a dancehall artiste from Tema. He was born on April 13, 1987 to Mr Samuel K Quayson and Miss Theresah Ackon.

Vybrant Faya started singing at early age with the local church groups. With his dream to become a professional musician he pursued his education very determined and after secondary school, he enrolled into a technology college where he gained certificate as an IT technician. Even in secondary school where he studied business accounting, he still held on to the dream by performing at school functions and had several recordings back in 2008.

For years, Vybrant Faya remained underground where his passion for music led him to meet several talented young people who collectively helped shaped his quest towards becoming a professional performer. Vybrant Faya gained the admiration of many young people with his community especially those around the ‘zongo’ towns with his good voice and smart lyrics.

In 2011, the situation for Vybrant Faya experienced a turn around when he was discovered by international dancehall promoter known as Mr Logic who gave him all the needed training and principles of the dancehall music including the language and lifestyle.

After years under Mr Logic, Vybrant Faya was introduced toShatta Movement Family, a record label owned by Mr Juwaid Sika and Enoch Cypha Wellington in 2013. Upon signing Vybrant Faya afterwards, the record label got him into the studio to record and produce what would be the most talked about and most played song in 2014-15, ‘Mampi’.

The single track immediately to Vybrant Faya the needed attention to enter the then competitive music industry in Ghana. With his unique style of delivery, the song immediately got the ears of several awards schemes which got him many prestigious nominations for the year 2014.

The Vybrant Faya Live Concert

In collaboration with some corporate bodies, the record label (SMF) and Vybrant Faya developed the ‘Vybrant Faya Live in Concert’ held every December to give the fans especially in deprived areas the chance to enjoy their favourite dancehall musicians for free.

The concert was first staged at Alajo, a community in Accra where many dancehall musicians from Ghana including Iwan, Ras Kuuku, Konkarah, Lyrical Spatta, Field Marshall, Rude boy Ranking and many others performed to a live audience during the holiday seasons. This initiative was developed to give back to society and enable artistes to meet their fans.

Upper Class Dancehall ‘Fixtape’.

Coining his own style of doing dancehall music, Vybrant Faya introduced what he termed ‘Upperclass dancehall’ which required that, dancehall songs should be done with the best of standards. From production, stage performance, video shoots and artiste’s brand should be of best standard, what he termed upperclass dancehall. In lieu, Vybrant Faya has recorded anine-tracks album called the ‘upper-class dancehall fixtape’ which has been released and is now available on iTunes and Deezer.

Mampi Music Video

Vybrant Faya travelled to South Africa with a total of 12 crew to shoot his first music video ‘Mampi’ which was directed by internationally acclaimed and award winning production Studio Space. The video upon release has enjoyed massive views on youtube and several plays on television. Huge investment which sponsored by the record label – SMF was made for the production of the video which resulted in its high quality.

Recognitions

Vybrant Faya was nominated in three major awards schemes in Ghana. First, he got two nominations in the prestigiousGhana Music Awards (VGMAs), sponsored by Vodafone. He was nominated in the category of Best New Artiste of the Year, 2014 and Best Reggae/Dancehall Song 2014.

Also, the maiden edition of the GN Bank Awards (formerly People’s Choice) nominated Vybrant Faya’s song ‘Mampi’ as the People’s Best Song for 2014. The Ghana DJs Awardsnominated him again for Best DJ Song for 2014.

Vybrant Faya had many hit songs which include; Mampi, Pretty Body, Budum Budum, Takarawa, Chapter II, Shatta Party, Kawoom, From the First Day, Bowahs Sycophant, Ama Maaga, and many others.
