Let the cowards come out to face me – Rex Omar dares political opponents

After NDC lost the 2016 general elections, many followers of the party including public figures who joined the campaign of President John Mahama have complained of attacks on their lives.

One of such people is Rex Omar. However, judging from his speech when talking to Hitz FM, he is not afraid at all. The highlife musician during the phone conversation said persons who have hidden their identity and are using calls to threaten him are cowards.

The “Abiba” singer who spoke strongly against the alleged attacks on the lives of NDC supporters dared the perpetrators to be brave and face him than to call with unknown numbers to threaten him.

“We are not enemies when we all belong to different political parties, something we should educate the public on. Politics is a game of ideas. If you have an issue with me, don’t hide behind politics and deal with me.

I didn’t release songs for ten years and I didn’t die so my livelihood does not depend on those who hate me because I’m in politics.

Why would you attack someone who has endorsed a candidate? At the end of the day Ghana won. Whatever Nana Addo and NPP will achieve for Ghana is for all of us so why would you attack somebody personally?

People have called me with hate speech, threats and other things but I think they are cowards. If you want to deal with me come and deal with me but don’t hide behind politics and do that.

People who are celebrating should do that but they should not do it in such a way that they will destroy properties and lives.” he noted.

When asked by the presenter if he is living in fear after the election, he said without mincing words that “not at all. I’m too brave to live in fear. We live in free society and Ghana is a democratic country. People who are calling me without mentioning their names are rather cowards. If you want to face me come forward and stop hiding.”

Commenting on the 2016 polls, Rex Omar lauded the National Democratic Party for accepting defeat and advised that the party sits down to investigate what went wrong that cost them political power.

He disclosed that he has never regretted campaigning for the umbrella family because “NDC has done very well within the four year period but the people who gave them power says no, enough is enough. When somebody employs you and they decide to take the job from you, you have nothing to say. We did not lose slightly but with a very big margin so we should know that there was something wrong.”
