The Member of Parliament for Juaben Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Hon Ama Pomaa has organize a successful training on Cyber Security and I T Essentials for members in her constituency.
The week long project organized by Ama Pomaa Foundation in collaboration with Cisco Networking Academy started from November 24 to December 1 at the Juaben Methodist Conference in the constituency.
The program which targeted about 50 participants saw the attendance of 120 participants with 55 of them being female.
Speaking at the opening ceremony session of the program, Hon Ama Pomaa stated that it is her vision to make Juaben constituency an I T hub for the region and the country at large as Bonwire is known to be the home of Kente.
According to her, information technology is an emerging tool to solve societal and economic problems, hence the need to let her constituents also move along in that direction by giving training and support to the youth in the area. She said there is the need to train the youth for ready market and she sees Information Technology as the solution.
As a ranking member of parliamentary select committee on communication, she has seen the need to let her constituents embrace technology as well as being conscious on its security implications.
The Member of Parliament stress on her preparedness to sponsor any of the beneficiaries who wish to pursue I T at the higher level.
On the graduation ceremony, some of the beneficiaries who couldn’t hide their happiness express gratitude to the member of parliament (MP) and requested that such programs should be organize frequently to equip them with I T skills. Some of them said the skills they have acquired would assist them at their various working place.
Among other things that were distributed to the trainees after the training were Laptops, and other hardware tools as well as certificate on Cyber Security and I T Essentials.
The overall best student, Akosua Amoakoaa Amoako from Juaben Senior High School received an award of a brand new Laptop worth GhȻ4500 and I T tool kits from Ama Pomaa foundation.
