The member of Parliament for Nhyieaso Constituency in the Ashanti region Hon. Kennedy Kwesi Kankam has reacts to false publication made against him by one the kumasi base radio station Angel Fm and news websites under the caption ”I’M NOT AN ENGINEER ; DON’T BOTHER ME WITH YOUR ROAD ISSUES- MP TELLS CONSTITUENT’S.
My attention has been drawn to a publication by Angel fm that has been replicated by some news websites under the caption “I’M NOT AN ENGINEER; DON’T BOTHER ME WITH YOUR ROAD ISSUES – MP TELLS CONSTITUENTS“ alleged to have been made by me.
It is unfortunate that an esteemed radio station like Angel Fm could allow its airwaves to be used by an unethical and unprofessional reporter to air a false story about me.
I would like to put on record that I was contacted by the said reporter from the station.
He asked questions about a road project under construction in my constituency which was under the direct supervision of the Urban Roads Department. I directed him to seek the right answers from the Urban Roads Department.
This lead I gave the reporter made him threaten me that the resentment I will get from my constituents after he airs the story should not be his fault.
This clearly indicated that he had a preconceived idea to run me down.
Pieces of the recording of the phone conversation that he did secretly were put together to suit his intentions.
This is a sad example of bad journalism that we must endeavour to eradicate from our public discourse.
I have been a friend of the Media in both my private and public life. As an MP, the development of the constituency and the people has always been my target and that cannot be achieved without the media who are the fourth estate of the realm.
However, I detest the use of the Media by some reporters who delightfully destroy and tarnish the image of people’s reputation without basis.
The truth of the matter was not what was reported by Angel Fm.
The CEO of the station has called to apologise to me.
I, therefore, urge the station to retract and apologize unreservedly.
Signed by
Hon Kennedy Kwesi Kankam, MP
Nhyiaeso Constituency, Ghana
