The MP for Sekondi Constituency, Hon Mercer Andrew Kofi Egyapa has stated that he is very happy with current events surrounding the Petition against the 48year old EC Chairperson, Charlotte Osei.
According to the legal practitioner and legislator, his happiness is premised on the basis that,the opposition NDC failed to appreciate the legitimate criticisms the ruling NPP made after the appointment of Charlotte Osei in June of 2015.
Appearing on Nyansapc ,with Kwaku Owusu Adjei as host last Tuesday,Hon Mercer explained that the emphasis placed on the form but not the substance of the petition is ridiculous. The Sekondi MP dismissed the NDC’s defense and advised them to stop the propaganda as continuous politicization will polarise the nation.He again wondered why the NDC wants to cry more than the bereaved.
Hon Kwadwo Agyei Dwomor who was on the same platform dissented, and strongly stated that the NPP is feverishly planning to rig 2020 elections.
The former Nkoranza North DCE advised the NPP to tread cautiously as it has dire consequences for our safety and security.
The former DCE however admitted that the issue will affect the EC’s credibility but resisted calls for the Chairperson and two deputies to resign.
