I never slapped Collins Amankwah, it was all exaggeration by the media – NPP's Chairman Wontumi

The chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Ashanti Region, Bernard Antwi Boasiako has quashed reports that he slapped Collins Amankwah – the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North – during last year’s election period.

According to the NPP Ashanti Regional chairman, who is popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, there was a misunderstanding between him and the MP but never laid his hands on him (Amankwah).
In an interview with Starr FM, Wontumi disclosed that he could have slapped Amankwah if he wanted to but he “didn’t do it”.

Chairman Wontumi reiterates he never slapped Collins Amakwah
“I never said I slapped anybody. Anytime you need changes in your life, you have to do some sacrifices to bring changes [because] when Jesus saw people trading in the temple, he got angry and crushed things”, he stated.

“So if I was supposed to do things to get us to win the elections, I would have done it.”
“But I didn’t do it. No I didn’t slap him but if I’m supposed to do it, I would have done it. Listen, for how long can we continue to play with the voters? For how long can we joke with them? We are not going to tolerate it, [but] no I didn’t touch him.”
Chairman Wontumi was arrested last year for allegedly assaulting Amankwah during a tensed period of voter registration by the Electoral Commission (EC).
However, MP for Manhyia North Collins Amankwah later confirmed Chairman Wontumi’s assertion insisting something happened, but he “wasn’t slapped”.
