Let me begin by saying , we are not in normal times as a nation and the globe at large. I quote “we know how to bring the economy back to life. What we do not know is how to bring people back to life.” President Akuffo Addo.
This statement made by the president has gained alot of attention both locally and internationally. It has demonstrated how life is so precious to mankind.
In view of this, it has become very imperative as citizens to adhere to the precautionary measures being undertaken by the government to protect its citizens from the deadly coronavirus.
The unbearable situation that we find ourselves has really affected the economy of Ghana and globally.I strongly believe that as a nation “together we stand; divided we fall” . I am so much impressed at the pace at which patriotic citizens have all come out to support the country to fight against the deadly COVID-19.
In addition to this, let me also take this opportunity to commend the Ghana Health Service, all frontline health workers and all the security agencies for their immense contributions towards the fight against Covid-19.
This come to mind on the government’s initiative of “Ghana Beyond Aid”. I think it’s a step in the right pathway taken by the government to have directed and given the needed support to the indigenous pharmaceutical companies to produce certain drugs and hand sanitizers which will augment the supply of these products in the country. As citizens, this is a matter of urgency that we all have to rally behind this agenda by the government.
Having said that, Lets play the devil’s advocate for a moment; Assuming, if all the international Bodies such as WHO,UNICEF, IMF etc decides to deprive affected countries from receiving support, what would have been our stand as a nation?
I strongly believe, as a nation, it’s timely and appropriate for us to take this opportunity to also unite ourselves, share ideas and also draw national policies which would positively affect the next generations to come.
At this juncture,I would plead with all Ghanaians to stay at home.
“This one too shall pass”
May God Bless our homeland Ghana
God Bless Us All!!!
