Frank Nelson happy with Hearts of Oak’s good start to GPL season

Accra Hearts of Oak has made a satisfactory start to this season according to the club’s board member Frank Nelson. Unbeaten Hearts are 3rd on the league table with 6 points going into match day five where they face toppers Aduana Stars in Dormaa.

Frank Nelson paid tribute to the club’s new head coach Frank Nuttal saying the Scotsman has done a credible job since his arrival two weeks ago.

“I think it’s a very good start for us. We drew our first three games which was a worry for some of our supporters. But for me I knew things would improve because we had changed our entire backroom staff and we also had some new players, so those results were not bad at all.”

“Our match against Wa All Stars was a very big result for us because Wa All Stars has been a thorn in our flesh in recent years, so to get that victory against them at the Ohene Gyan Sports stadium was very good for us,” he said.

He further went on to appeal to fans not to put pressure on the head coach by setting specific targets for him, and revealed his admiration for the Scottish tactician.

“I don’t think there should be a target for him. All I wish for him is that he will be a coach who will be disciplined and committed to his course, and that is to give the players that winning mentality and psyche them up to give them a technical advantage over their opponents.”

“Judging by the three matches where he has been in charge, I can say that he has something good to offer the club,” he added.

Frank Nelson, who is also an executive member of the Ghana Football Association, however says he is confident of a good season for the Phobians.

After the match at Aduana, Hearts of Oak face Great Olympics, Tema Youth, Asante Kotoko, Berekum Chelsea and Bechem United in their next five fixtures.
