The Landlords Association at Ejisu Gyamasi in the Ejisu municipality of the Ashanti Region has appealed to the regional police command to intensify its security in the community.
This follows the murder of a 15-year-old SHS student recently.
Linda Akansa was found dead on Friday, 21 June 2019 in a bush near an uncompleted building in the community with her remains decomposing.
Her sandals were found about 5 metres away from the crime scene with parts of her hair shaved.
The Juabeng SHS 2 student got missing for a week during her school’s short vacation period.
Ejisu Divisional Police Commander, ACP Stephen Tane Ngissah had told Kumasi FM’s Elisha Adarkwah that no arrest has been made yet but one suspect is on the radar.
The Chairman for the Landlords Association, Ebenezer Opoku Agyemang, said the residents are living in fear and, therefore, want the police to intensify its security in the vicinity.
He told Elisha Adarkwah in an interview that the murder incident has been an annual ritual and seems to happen in the same month.
He said the Landlords Association will be meeting with the Ejisu Divisional Police command over the recurrent killings.
Assembly member for the area, Mr S.S. Dankwa said he suspects some six persons in the community are behind the murder and want the police to arrest them or get them expelled from the community, though he declined to mention names.
He said those persons had previously been expelled from other communities in connection with similar concerns.
Mr Dankwa also called on the police to properly investigate the case and ensure that the suspects are arrested since they do not want to take the law into their own hands.
