Doris Boaduwaa’s hat-trick and Comfort Yeboah’s first international goal gave Ghana, the 2025 bronze medallists, a 3-0 victory in the first leg in Ismailia last week, and they went on to dominate the match.

However, rumours that the team had refused to train over unpaid bonuses cast a shadow over their preparations for the return match at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Following an intervention by Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku and Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams, the players eventually returned to the pitch after missing Saturday and Sunday’s training.

The first half ended without a goal, but the Queens came alive in the second half. Three minutes after opening the score in the 52nd minute, Boaduwaa doubled her total.

Boaduwaa finished with her hat-trick in stoppage time to secure a convincing 4–0 victory on the day, while Yeboah added her second goal in national colours in the 57th minute.

Ghana has qualified for consecutive WAFCON championships thanks to the victory. With the 2026 finals set to take place in Morocco, the team will now await the group stage draw.

In addition, a semifinal appearance at the continental championship would secure the Black Queens a spot in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil in 2027.
