Denkyira Obuasi is a devilish town; No amount of money will get me to perform there – Shatta Wale

“I will never go! For me knowing the type of people there that this is how they are, I don’t think my God will even allow me to go there no matter how much money. Even if you offer me $10 million, I will not go because money is the root of all evil. Even if you bring former American President George Bush’s security, I will not go. I don’t believe in money I believe in God and I want to say that no amount of money can make me go to a place with such evil minds”.The emotional ‘Taking Over’ hitmaker went further to describe the town as ‘deadly’ and devilish. “That town is a deadly town. Major is not the only person they have killed; they have killed a lot of people there. I am not saying this because I have proved but how mothers just stood by and watch and even the Assemblyman of the area told them to beat him, I don’t believe Major is the only person they have killed. That town is devilish”. A little over a week ago, most people had never heard about Denkyira Obuasi. The town has gained infamacy for the brutal murder of Ghanaian soldier Captain Maxwell Mahama on Monday, May 29, 2017.

The soldier was the victim of mob justice, while he went on a morning jog when some people in the town accused him of being an armed robber. He died of his injuries in a case that has shocked the entire country. The self-acclaimed dancehall king made a song days after as a tribute to the slain soldier titled ‘Where is the love?’ Maxwell Mahama has since been posthumously promoted to the rank of major by President Nana Akufo-Addo. He has also announced a 500,000 cedi trust fund in memory of the slain soldier to cater for his young wife and two children.
Meanwhile, actor John Dumelo has visited the family of Major Maxwell Mahama to express his condolences in person and also sympathize with the family for their loss.
