Businessman Remanded in Connection with Murder of Investigative Journalist Ahmed Hussein-Sualey
The Madina District Court has remanded a 35-year-old businessman, Daniel Koranteng, also known as Nana Amakyel, in connection with the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Sualey. Koranteng, who has been provisionally charged with murder, is expected to undergo committal proceedings at the court.

According to the prosecution, Koranteng is the Managing Director of ISPY Company and was an employee of Tiger Eye P.I., the investigative firm led by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, alongside the deceased. The prosecution alleged that Koranteng had multiple interactions with Sualey and his family before his death.
The prosecution’s case hinges on the accusation that Koranteng provided Sualey’s photographs to Kennedy Agyapong, a Member of Parliament, who broadcasted the images on Net2 TV, calling for retribution against the journalist. Sualey reportedly identified Koranteng as the individual who leaked his photographs.
Call records allegedly place Koranteng in Madina, near Sualey’s residence, before and at the time of the murder, which occurred on January 16, 2019. Further investigations revealed that Koranteng left Madina for his residence in Amasaman late in the evening on the day of the murder.
Koranteng declined multiple police invitations and fled to the United Kingdom in August 2019. He returned to Ghana and was arrested in Amasaman on March 15, 2025, following intelligence gathering. During interrogation, Koranteng admitted to knowing Sualey, visiting Kennedy Agyapong, and taking photographs with Sualey, but denied selling the photographs to anyone.
The prosecution informed the court that investigations are ongoing. Koranteng has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to reappear before the court on April 1, 2025.
The murder of Ahmed Hussein-Sualey sent shockwaves through the journalism community and beyond, with many calling for justice and an end to violence against journalists. The arrest and remand of Koranteng mark a significant development in the case, and many will be watching the proceedings closely.
