After a torturous six-hour hearing, Judge Arun Subramanian told Combs, “You mistreated them physically, emotionally, and psychologically,” before imposing a 50-month prison sentence.

“What caused it to continue for so long? Because you were able to conceal it due to your wealth and power, and because you avoided detection,” the judge added. “To prevent further harm to the public, a severe penalty is required.”

The 55-year-old was found guilty of prostitution by jurors in a Manhattan federal courtroom where the sentencing was held. Over the course of the two-month trial, shocking testimony surfaced that portrayed Combs’ violent, cunning, and selfish actions behind closed doors.

Combs gave a 12-minute statement to the court while sporting black reading glasses and a wrinkled oatmeal-colored jumper. He expressed regret to victims Cassie Ventura and a former lover named “Jane,” but he mostly spoke about himself.

“My history of domestic violence will always be a weight I must carry for the rest of my life,” he told the judge in an attempt to gain mercy before his sentencing. I am only a human being, not some mythical character. I gave it my all, yet in my excess and ego, I lost myself.

On July 2, jurors had earlier found Combs not guilty on the most serious charges, which included racketeering and sex trafficking, which carried a potential life sentence.

Judge Subramanian also issued the maximum allowed fine of $500,000 in addition to the prison sentence. He pointed out that although this punishment deviated from recommended sentencing recommendations, it was appropriate in light of Combs’ “immense resources, which facilitated his crimes.”

This decision ends a trial that rocked the entertainment world and damaged the reputation of one of hip-hop’s most famous figures, making it one of the most well-known convictions in recent memory.
