The Minority in Parliament on Tuesday, February 7 abstained from a voting process to decide on the approval of Otiko Afisah Djaba as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection. The report on the minister-designate came up on the floor again after it was deferred last Friday. After the disagreements over the report, Speaker Mike Oquaye ordered the issue to be put to voting. But the Minority members present decided to stay away from the exercise, insisting that they do not approve of the nomination of New Patriotic Party’s National Women’s Organiser.
