“Revocation shouldn’t end there, prosecution must follow otherwise Ghanaians will not know the difference between Mahama’s administration and us; we will be tagged as deceitful,” said the Member of Parliament for Subin Constituency, Eugene Boakye Antwi.

The MP, who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, was reacting to the recent shutdown by the BoG of some 23 savings and loans companies.

Speaking on Tuesday’s edition of Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, the Subin MP believes people must go to jail for causing so much damage in the banking sector.

According to him, if no prosecution is done, President Akufo-Addo’s will to fight corruption will be questioned; adding “people have already started talking”.

“Eyes are on us to deliver and so we must be careful…the complaints are too many. If something radical doesn’t happen…I speak today as a Member of Parliament and there are a lot of complaints from our constituents. Something must be done; it must not be business as usual; it is time to act. We are in for hard times if something radical doesn’t happen in terms of prosecution,” he added.

Speaking passionately on the show, the deputy minister reiterated that if the ruling government doesn’t prosecute anyone “how Mahama was removed from office, that will also happen to us”.
