Audio: Kweku Baako shocked at CID’s posture over Anas’ galamsey exposé

Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has expressed shock at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)’s interest to investigate the Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ galamsey expose’ which is already being probed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

Mr Baako says he finds it difficult to understand why the CID will meddle in a matter when it is aware the case is already being handled by the Special Prosecutor.

“I am raising issues that it is surprising the CID, even if they claim they were prompted by the invitation from the inter-ministerial committee, did not take recognition of the fact that this matter is already with another agency of the state which is a creature of law.

“My advice then to Mr Bissue is that he should find his way (to the Special Prosecutor’s office). In telling his story, he (Bissue) should not create the impression that somebody is trying to hide the raw footage,” he said on Metro TV as monitored by Adomonline.com.

Presidential Staffer, Mr Charles Cromwell Bissue, dared the award-winning investigative journalist to produce the ‘raw unedited footages’ of his galamsey exposé to aid in the criminal investigations involving him (Bissue).

Mr Bissue stepped aside recently as secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining after Mr Anas aired a documentary in which he was caught allegedly taking a bribe to allow a company carry out mining activities at a time there was a ban on all small-scale mining activities in Ghana.

Mr Baako further revealed that Mr Anas and Tiger Eye PI have not received any letter from the CID to assist with investigations.

“We have not received any letter from the CID and the CID has not written to us either because we have already petitioned the Special Prosecutor, so why the parallel investigations, it wouldn’t make sense,” he stated.

He said the team has always seen as critical the need to make the raw files available in matters of public interest to the appropriate State authorities.

He said in instances such as the #Number12 investigation, which exposed corruption in Ghana football, the CID requested for the raw and unedited footage which was made available to them.

He urged the Tiger Eye PI team to focus on the Special Prosecutor’s office since they petitioned them first to aid with investigations.
