The Asokwa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Chief Akwannuasa Gyimah has appealed to companies operating within the Asokwa enclave to pull resources to support the efforts of the Municipal Assembly which is aimed at developing the community.
Addressing a meeting with officials of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL) at the latter’s office in Kaase, Chief Akwannuasa said districts and counties all over the world do well because of the kind of support they get from companies and institutions located in their communities.
He urged GGBL to show the commitment that will yield dividends for their mutual benefit and development.
The people of Asokwa as well as the Assembly, the MCE noted are desirous of having a strong relationship with all companies in its enclave so they can partner to cause the kind of development inhabitants would want to see happen.
‘’I urge GGBL that having set up in the Asokwa enclave they in turn partner us to develop our community and provide opportunities for our people to get both general and skilled jobs so that collectively we can own our development and growth’’, Chief Akwannuasa stressed.
INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES:
The MCE mentioned plans by the Assembly to collaborate with companies that express interest in developing business ideas in the Asokwa community.
This, he noted is to ensure that both human and resource potentials in the community are made use of for the benefit of the newly created municipality.
Currently, Chief Akwannuasa noted the number one challenge confronting the Asokwa municipality is how to get permanent jobs for the youth.
He therefore urged GGBL to scrutinize some names the Assembly has submitted to its outfit to ensure general duty as well as skilled employment opportunities are given to indigenes of the Asokwa community who are seeking for jobs.
‘’We are glad we are meeting GGBL today because the Assembly and I are particular about getting companies located here to offer employment to people of Asokwa first before they extend such opportunities to others elsewhere. In Europe and elsewhere this is a standard practice and I believe this forms the best corporate social responsibility GGBL can give to us’’, the MCE unequivocally stated.
RESPONSES:
Responding to the appeal by the Asokwa MCE and his team, Nana Boakye Yiadom, Relations Manager for GGBL indicated the readiness of the company to support the Assembly to build infrastructure and others aimed at developing the locality.
GGBL, he mentioned understands its corporate social responsibility very well and is determined to do even more to help the communities they work within get the development they need.
Flanked by Joanna Sneddon, Brewery Manager and Yaw Mensah, Sales Manager for GGBL, the Relations Officer asked that the Assembly makes official every single request they intend the company to help with so they could factor into their budget and scheme of projects.
He, however, asked the Assembly to help re-gravel the bad routes and adjoining roads to the main entrance and back of the company so as to facilitate vehicle and machinery movement.
