The family claims that his legal wife, Mrs Akosua Serwah Fosuh, and their children were not consulted or involved in the decision to hold his last funeral services on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

The immediate family described the situation as “deeply distressing” in a statement dated Thursday, October 9, 2025, expressing shock at learning of the funeral arrangements via social media. According to the statement, the funeral committee and Abusuapanyin Kofi Wusu acted against the wishes of the deceased musician’s immediate family in favour of their own agenda.

The family stated:

It is extremely upsetting to learn about your own husband’s funeral arrangements on social media for the first time. This case demonstrates unequivocally that the funeral committee and Abusuapanyin Kofi Wusu are operating in their own self-interest, disregarding the rights and desires of the deceased’s immediate family.

They also denounced the action as disrespectful, claiming that it was a conscious effort to keep the immediate family out of any conversations about the funeral. It said:

Abusuapanyin Kofi Wusu gave an interview on October 8, 2025, during which he made a public announcement regarding Mr. Fosuh’s funeral date without first consulting his children or his legal wife, Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh. The immediate family must make the necessary arrangements before travelling to Ghana for the funeral, and this action demonstrates a total lack of respect for them.

The family further stated that there had been “a continuous and deliberate effort to marginalise Mrs Akosua Serwah Fosuh, the wedded wife, in all funeral-related decisions” since Daddy Lumba’s death, characterising such behaviour as morally and culturally unacceptable. They added that the cause of death is still being looked into.

The statement also noted that Mr Charles Kwadwo Fosuh was a citizen of the Federal Republic of Germany and that he and Mrs Akosua Serwah Fosuh were legally wed in Bornheim, Germany, on December 23, 2004. It emphasised that a person who is legally married in Germany is not allowed to get married again.

The statement also confirmed their legal action:

The direct family has requested an injunction on the funeral date and the burial arrangements until appropriate discussion and agreement are reached due to the funeral committee’s misunderstanding and poor communication.

The family asked the public to ignore any unofficial announcements regarding the funeral until further notice and thanked supporters and well-wishers around the world for their support.
