An Emergency Meeting between GES and National Council of PTAs needed to review the PTA Levies

Following a directive from the Director General of GES, the Heads of all Senior High Schools have been asked to refrain from collecting PTA dues.
According to the Director General, his office is concerned with the proliferation of all manner of levies under the guise of PTA dues.

The National Council of Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) as well, plans to hold a consultative meeting with relevant stakeholders over the suspension of PTA dues in second cycle institutions.

We, at NUGS believe a consultative meeting with all stakeholders especially an emergency meeting between the Ghana Education Service and the National PTA is very necessary and should be held immediately.
Since the collection of these fees is directly or indirectly, for students welfare, we urge the GES and National Council of the PTAs to hasten the process of coming together with a common position on the PTA dues…

In the end, this issue concerns all students in second cycle institutions and we at NUGS remain resolute with our commitment to protect, defend and uphold the welfare of every Ghanaian student especially, our Senior High School Students.
