Audio: Hannah Bissiw speaks about vote-buying at NDC conference

National women’s organiser elect of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Hanna Bissiw, has debunked vote-buying allegations against her party its Women and Youth Congress at Gomoa Feteh in the Central Region.

“Since when did giving out of food at congress become a crime? Some delegates got to the grounds as early as 4:30 am and you expect us to just look at these people like that? We gave them food and so if you call that vote buying, so be it,” she said.

There were reports that the national youth and women’s organiser congress of the NDC was rocked with voting-buying.

Delegates were rumoured to have been induced with goodies such as cash, gas cookers, shoes, mobile phones among others.

The congress was to elect the national youth organiser and national women’s organiser for the party ahead of the 2020 elections.

But reacting to the claims on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Monday, the former Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, accused members of the governing NPP of being behind what she describes ‘photoshopped’ photos in the media.

“I blame the NPP because they always want to do equalization; they do these things during their elections and so always want to drag us into such corrupt acts.

“I see all these photos circulating on social media as photoshopped. I won’t waste my time and react to this lie. I know I can work, delegates believed in me. I didn’t go promising to them” she noted.
