Bawumia acknowledges economic hardship and emphasizes the government’s initiatives to lessen suffering

Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has once again expressed recognition of the economic difficulties that Ghanaians continue to face.

He did, however, emphasize that the administration had taken a number of steps to lessen the suffering.

In response to inquiries about his 2016 campaign slogan, “Ghanaians are suffering,” Dr. Bawumia said during a recent interview, “The suffering is there, it’s not gone, but there are a lot of social interventions to reduce the suffering.”

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia, listed a number of government programs that, in his opinion, have made life easier for the populace.

“After suffering, teachers are now receiving their allowances.” Since nurses were in pain, we have reinstated their benefits. He emphasized, citing government initiatives to raise living standards, “We introduced free SHS, which has reduced the suffering of parents.”
