A major promise to the people of the Upper East Region has been made by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who announced intentions to build an airport there.

Speaking at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2024 manifesto launch, Bawumia emphasized the necessity of improved infrastructure to support regional development and promote connectivity throughout the nation.

It is anticipated that this large-scale project will be crucial in changing the Upper East Region’s economic climate and increasing accessibility for both domestic and foreign tourists.

According to him, the government would build the nation’s rail network in accordance with the Master Plan through partnerships with investors in the private sector, with a medium-term strategic concentration on the Western and Eastern Lines.

The two lines with the greatest economic significance will be developed and finished first.

In order to transform the Tamale Airport into a hub for aviation cargo, horticulture cargo, and logistics, he continued, his administration will assist the private sector in establishing a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility there.
