GHANA IN THE EYES OF THE LORD (II)

Hon. Hadji Mustapha Writes…..

I have always maintained this opinion that, my eyes , ears and brains are like an Oracle to me. I can see afar, think deep on matters and hear just what is true, factual and straight forward!!

It is a sad day for our beautiful democracy. But, my only fear is that, should this become an autocracy in the making, especially concerning this current Nana Akuffo Addo and NPP led administration.

Happenings withing the current administration makes me think and ponder over issues more than I would usually do and I ask, is this on our part as a people or a misplaced priority?

Everyday, policies are churned by governments after governments. One regime after another. Yet, in this time and era of our Democratic dispensation, I have seen a government and a regime that is highly incompetent and unrealistic in all they do.

There is a saying *”Cut Your Coat According to Your Size”.* This is even known and it’s been clearly understood by all and sundry.

But, what do we see and hear nowadays? Are we really spending and initiating realistic project or it’s just the usual rhetorics everyday.

From a National Cathedral, now we are talking about plans far in advance by the current administration to construct a new 450 seat Parliamentary Chamber, when in actual facts we have only 275 parliamentarians!!!

It is only an inept and highly incompetent “brains” that would think this way!!!

But wait, with all due respect, most if not all of the members of parliament and of the majority which is of the NPP and this government have no business being there in the first place.

The House of Parliament must be a true reflection and representations of the good people of this country irrespective of one’s political affiliations.

Some members of parliament only think of their comfort in the House of Parliament and have forgotten that there are people in this country who can’t afford even a square meal in a day.

OH!!…., but, did I hear some members of parliament complain of discomforts if its not a 450 seater capacity chamber?

Every parliamentarian is entitled to a car loan, a fully furnished office, accommodation, salary , Christmas bonus, shoe and clothing allowances, travelling and sitting allowances last but not the least a gargantuan fat ex gratia packaged to be taken home every 4 years when u win or lose your seat!!!

The question I ask these Parliamentarians is this:
if these treatment given them is not enough to constitute comforts at the work place and off the work place, then what is it?

Again I ask:

*”How many people today in Ghana have even a quarter of what you’re given and yet, you likewise the government still keeps urging people to be calm and patient?*

How sad it is to note that there are some, in fact many, who do not have portable drinking water and good roads.

Did I hear an MP on the floor of parliament say that parliament won’t sit under trees? And who is saying you should and are you?

You’re already enjoying the comforts of an existing chamber my honorable member, so instead of thinking of making way for a youth of your party to take over with fresh ideas and energy you are *”sheepishly”* thinking of remaining there till thy kingdom come?

This is absolute Wickedness on the part of some parliamentarians.

The government of the day has too many misplaced priorities and hard earned currencies and funds are going waste.

Kole bu Taching Hospital and other health facilities have no oxygen, no beds and are virtually becoming death traps for the ordinary Ghanaian.

Patients are made to sit on plastic chairs whilst receiving treatments. Moreover, others lay on the bare floor of the hospital waiting to be treated yet we want to spend $ 200 million for new parliamentary chamber?

Mr president don’t let this happen to you and under you administration, if not, it would be like a shot in the foot. help stop this Mr. President, *Drop that Chamber Now!!!*

Some of these issues may lead to civil disobedience which will definitely affect productivity, commitments and growth. It’s never too late to realign, adjust or rescind the discission to build a new chamber.

Lastly Mr. President, you may be pardoned by Ghanaians for the unpopular construction of a National Cathedral but for new Chamber, you may never go caught free.

Posterity will judge us all
