YEN com earlier brought you reports that the Ghana Football Association president, Kwesi Nyantakyi had been captured on video engaging in corrupt schemes by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Nyantakyi was caught trying to negotiate 25 per cent commission for himself on sponsorship deals for the premier league.
He was also caught on video colluding with undercover investigators – who posed as investors – in an elaborate scheme to bribe President Akufo-Addo and Bawumia with millions in exchange for lucrative government contracts.
For his effort, he was given alleged $65,000 advance fee. Here are some stunning claims Nyantakyi made about Akufo-Addo to the undercover investigators:
1. Akufo-Addo is broke
Nyantakyi claimed Akufo-Addo sold most of his property to finance the 2016 election.
As such, he said the president was broke.
2. Akufo-Addo is open to pocketing a $5 million bribe’
Nyantakyi claimed Akufo-Addo sold most of his property to finance the 2016 election.
As such, he said the president was broke.
Nyantakyi said he had been reliably informed by Anthony Karbo, the deputy roads and highways minister, that given Akufo-Addo’s dire financial situation, he would greatly appreciate a $5 million dollar “gift” and in turn approve lucrative contracts for Nyantakyi and his team.
3. Akufo-Addo’s family members are complaining of hardship
The GFA president said Akufo-Addo’s family members were complaining of hardship because they sold their property to support Akufo-Addo’s presidential campaign in 2016.
4.Contractors give five per cent kickback to Akufo-Addo’s brothers
Nyantakyi said the government was delaying in paying many government contractors for work done. He said to get around the problem, some of the contractors would go to Akufo-Addo’s brothers and pledge to give them five per cent of the money the government owed to them.
The GFA president said Akufo-Addo’s brothers would then use their access to the seat of government to facilitate the quick payment of the contractors’ money in exchange for the five per cent cut.
- Kennedy Ayapong is one of Akufo-Addo’s biggest financiers
The GFA president said Kennedy Agyapong was one of Akufo-Addo biggest financiers. He said such was Kennedy’s importance to the NPP that he could condemn the government without any repercussion.
He said whenever Assin Central MP insulted the government, they begged him instead of taking punitive action against him.
- Akufo-Addo granted Kennedy Agyapong control of the transport ministry
Nyantakyi claimed so great was Agyapong’s financial contribution to Akufo-Addo’s campaign that the president created the Ministry of Transport for him (Agyapong) to control.
He said Agyapong simply nominated one of his “boys” to head the ministry, since he considered himself undisciplined to be a minister. The explosive content of the video has led to calls for Nyantakyi’s resignation.
Some Ghanaians have also called for an investigation of Akufo-Addo and other top NPP members captured in the video to ascertain what they know about Nyantakyi’s comments.
