The team also seized some items including earth-moving equipment, weapons, and ammunition.
The Spokesperson for the team, Captain Nathaniel Asamoah, told Citi News that the suspects have since been handed over to the Nkawkaw Police.
“Items seized when we arrested them included one Nissan pick-up, three excavators, one pump-action gun, 27 live pump-action gun ammo, two blank ammo, three puller covers, one excavator monitor, one generator control, one compressor, one auxiliary board, one starter and various grades of batteries.”
Two more Chinese ‘galamseyers’ arrested
Two other Chinese nationals suspected to be illegal miners were also in the Amenfi West District of the Western Region earlier in September.
The arrest followed operations carried out by the Western Forward Operation Base of the Vanguard team at Samreboi and Aborikrom, both in the Amenfi West District.
Two Excavators were also immobilized in the process while the suspects have been arraigned.
